

Jack Louis Michaelis, 88, of Mitchell, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Mitchell Care Center. Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes and there will be no visitation. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date in Wheatland, Wyoming. Dugan-Kramer Chapel is assisting the family. Jack was born August 2, 1928 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to Louis and Pearl (Dunham) Michaelis. He attended grade school in a one room school house in Slater, Wyoming and attended Wheatland High School. Jack left school early to work on the family farm in Slater. He relocated his family to Scottsbluff in 1960 and split his time and remained on the family farm until the mid-1970’s raising wheat and cattle. Jack then moved to Greeley, Colorado and resided there for over 25 years. His family will always treasure his love of UNO, the Colorado Rockies, and the Denver Broncos.
Jack is survived by his three children: Jacqueline (Lee) Berry of Montgomery, AL, Ronald Michaelis (Sherry Hara) of Scottsbluff, and Pamela Nuesca of Lubbock, TX. He is grandfather to Jennifer Michaelis, Christine Michaelis, and Jessica (Chevy) Nuesca-Frueh all of Scottsbluff, Amanda (Rob) Ebersole of Yorktown, VA, and Cody (Jaclyn) Berry of Nashville, TN. He is great-grandfather to Malayah, Josiah, Tony, Alex, Brad, Aden, Kingston, and Kessler.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and half-sister Opal.
