Janice was born to John and Nettie Sterkel on May 31, 1936 in Scottsbluff. She married Reinhardt “Reiny” Rahmig on April 6, 1955. To this union they had three children; Ron, Karen and Terry Janice had many talents; she was a homemaker and loved to cook, garden and take care of the household while Reiny worked. She babysat her grandchildren when they were young and helped prepare them for grade-school by teaching them to read and write their name and address. She was a collector; she could tell you which ones were of value and which were just because she liked them. Her collections included bells, ceramic doll heads, angels, cookie jars and all those little toys from McDonalds the grandchildren would leave behind. Janice is a past member of the Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge. In their younger years they loved to dance, go camping with the family, bowl, play cards and found she was very lucky when it came to gambling. She taught herself to crochet and made many afghans, which were shared with the family. She enjoyed all these until her health didn’t allow for her to go out much; but that didn’t stop her, she became an avid Colorado Rockies baseball fan and cheered on the Huskers. Reiny continued to care for her by taking over the household chores, cooking, gardening and shopping. He didn’t waiver for a minute even in the end when she came home for her final hours before going home to the Lord. Janice is survived by her husband, Reiny; son Ron (Debbie) Rahmig of Kimball; Daughters, Karen Brown (Ken Schommer) of Bayard, Terry (Scott) Rajewich of Gering; brother, Jack Sterkel of Scottsbluff; sisters, Pat (Rollie) Friend of Gering and Lori Gittchel of Round Lake Beach , Ill.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
