

John A. Ervin, 73 of Beverly Health Care in Scottsbluff, formerly of Mitchell was called to the Lord Jesus Christ, Tuesday, October 18, 2005. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 24, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Willie Coop officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Mitchell Valley Cemetery. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff.John was born on March 24, 1932 at his family home in Mitchell to Alex and Lillian (Ryan) Ervin. He was raised by his dad Alex, attended school in Mitchell. After school, he traveled throughout the west coast performing manual labor jobs, later returning to his home in Mitchell during the 1960’s. John spent the next 36 years working and learning the electronic trade. He worked for such places as the Mitchell Sugar Factory, Z & W Electric and finishing his career at the Homestead Appliance. John married Jeanette Grover in 1971, at Gering. John loved electronics and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was a college bowl game fanatic. He had a selfless heart, giving the shirt off his back to help his family and was graciously caring for his dad and wife until their passing. He was an awesome dad and words cannot describe how much he will be missed by his family. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law James A. and Annette Ervin and grandson Jacob all of Scottsbluff. His parents, wife Jeanette, step brother Raymond preceded him in death.
