Joyce Rennae Carter

Joyce R. Carter, 70, of Gering, died Thursday, November 4, 2010 at her home. Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor John Adams officiating. Cremation was held at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Inurnment will be held at a later date at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. A memorial has been established to Prairie Haven Hospice. Joyce was born July 2, 1940 in Rochester, MN to Selmar and Meda (Hylland) Whiden. She moved with her family to the Black Hills of South Dakota where she grew up and received her education. She moved to Gering, NE in 1977 where she worked in food service for several companies. She married Neil B. Carter, August 30, 1993. They opened the Gering Coffee Shop at that time until retiring in 2002. Joyce loved to share her baked goods with family and friends. She is survived by her daughters: Wanda Johnston, Gering, Ne, Tana (John) Venturino, Brenda (Clancey) Trump and Patricia (Jay) Weitzel all of Scottsbluff; sons: Daniel (Marcia) Jonston and David (Virginia) Johnston, Scottsbluff, Ne; step daughter: Kelly Ann Colgan, Roanoke, VA, 23 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren; brothers: David (Sandy) Kedrowski, Grant, NE and Cavin “Huck” LaBarge, Alamosa, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Pam Griffith and Debra LeBarge.
