

Juanita Romaine Theinhardt, 71, of Terrytown lost her battle with cancer at her home Friday evening Nov. 6, 2009. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday Nov. 14, at the Church of the Nazarene located at 1305 W, 20th Street in Scottsbluff with Pastors Darryl Potts and Ken Boston officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Kimball Cemetery in Kimball. Juanita was born April 18, 1938, in Stuart by her parents Steve William Paine and Beulah Louise Kelling. She went to Chadron Prep High School in 1956 were she participated in Mixed Chorus, Pep Club Secretary, Drama Club, Paper Staff, Annual Staff, Editor of Candid Shots, Speech Awarded, County Government, and Letterman Queen. Juanita then moved to Alliance, where she met her first husband, Richard Robert Vandermate, and was married Feb. 15, 1959. From Alliance they moved to Scottsbluff/Gering, several towns in Oklahoma, Yankton, S.D., Sidney and Oshkosh, where her husband Richard was the pastor of the Nazarene Church and the chief of police. In April 1971 he died in the line of duty. After that she moved to Chadron, where she remarried for a short time. Then Juanita moved to Crawford, and then back to the Scottsbluff/Gering area in 1975. She met her last husband, Leonard Neil Theinhardt, in 1977. He was a retired farmer from Banner County. They dated for 10 years before marrying on Nov. 18, 1987. They lived happily in Terrytown for many years. Juanita was very active in her church. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, cooking, putting together cookbooks, gardening and canning. She enjoyed more than anything spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. She is now at her new home in heaven where there is no more sorrow and no more pain. Survivors include her children, Robert (Sue) Vandermate of Casper Wyo., Leonard (Cyndi) Vandermate Lake Minatare, Romaine Petranek of Rapid City S.D., Neva (Bruce) Tirrel of Yankton S.D., Jill (Matt) Broadbeck of Grand Island Neb.; stepdaughter, Debra (Jack) Cochran of Harrisburg; former son-in-law, Vince Petraneck of Rapid City S.D.; sisters, Melba (Paul) Kuntzelman, Gloria (David) Sumardo, Sandra Meyer, Willa (Duane) Nevius; and her only surviving 81 year old Aunt Bessie Killebrew. She had 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husbands, Richard R. Vandermate (April 1971), and Leonard N. Theinhardt (April 2007).
