Kathryn Kramer, 102, of Mitchell, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Mitchell Care Center. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rich Reisig officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to Mitchell Care Center or to the donor’s choice. Friends may call at the funeral home between 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Kathryn was born March 27, 1909 in Huck, Russia to Jacob and Margaret (Neiderhaus) Schneider. She immigrated to the United States with her family when she was two years old. They lived in Hastings, NE for two years before moving to Mitchell, NE. She received her education in Mitchell Schools and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Mitchell where she was baptized and confirmed. She married Sam Kramer December 2, 1928 and had one daughter Virginia Lee. Kathryn became a naturalized citizen on the United States on March 5, 1957. She was a homemaker, took good care of her family, loved to raise a big garden and flowers and canned most of her produce. She was a wonderful cook, loved to sew, embroider, crochet, loved to read and work word puzzles. She worked right along her husband, Sam, in their farm and feeding operation near Lyman, NE. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church in Mitchell, NE and the ladies guild for many years. Kathryn is survived by her brother Ben Schneider of Mitchell and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam, daughter and son-in-law Virginia and Ted Thormahlen, two granddaughters Kathryn Ellen and Gail Marie, six brothers and five sisters.
