She was born on June 22, 1959, to Jack and Carol Ann Lewis.
Lauri graduated from Gering High School. She attended the University of Northern Colorado and was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. Laurie graduated from UNC with a BA in Rehabilitation Counseling. She moved to Washington, DC and worked at the Folger Institute. Lauri became editor in chief of the National Business and Professional Women's Association while covering women's issues on the Hill, in DC.
She is survived by brothers Shan and Tam Lewis of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Lynn Dee Lewis of Parker Colorado.
Lauri is preceded by her parents, Jack and Carol Ann Lewis.
