Her funeral service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Private family interment at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare. Lois was born on September 20, 1934, the daughter of Otto and Doris Dowling in the town of Wynot, Nebraska. She grew up with 3 brothers, Howard Paul, Donald Elmer and Gerald Eugene. The family lived on different farms. She went to the 8th grade and later received her GED.
Lois babysat, worked at Lake Minatare School, later Northfield Villa and Capri Motel. Later she had her own day care. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, and putting jigsaw puzzles.
She met Larry L DeWitt in Callaway and on July 14, 1955, they were married and there were 5 children born to this union, Gwendolyn Kay, Lonnie Ray, Larene Joy, Deborah Sue and Jeanne Ann. The family moved to Western Nebraska where they made their home.
She loved her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her children Gwen (Orin) Yung, Larene (Larry) Carlson, Lonnie DeWitt and Jeanne (Sean) McKerrigan; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brother Gerald (Ilene) Dowling and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Larry; daughter Deborah Flores; brothers Howard and Donald Dowling.
