

Manon I. Childs, 91, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Mitchell Care Center. A private family inurnment will be held on Friday at the Fairview Cemetery. A memorial service for the Manon’s family will be held at a later date. At her request, cremation was done at the Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Manon was born on October 29, 1914 at Ainsworth, Nebraska to Clark J. and Inez (Skillman) Frazier. She grew up there and graduated from high school at the age of 16. She married Ivan F. Childs on May 24, 1933 in Ainsworth. The couple taught school for a few years in the Ainsworth area. After her husband became an insurance agent, the couple moved to Lincoln in 1941. In 1944, they moved to Scottsbluff. In October of 1951, Ivan established the local Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. Manon was very civic minded and was active in various community organizations. When Ivan died in 1970, Manon purchased a town home in Littleton, Colorado and spent several years in the Denver area. She returned to the North Platte Valley in 1996 to be near her daughters. She lived in Scottsbluff until 2003. She then moved to the Mitchell Care Center until the time of her death. Manon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and recently, a great great grandmother. Survivors include her daughters Kay (George) Calvert and Glenda (Frank ) Frailey of Mitchell; Marilyn Childs of Centennial, Colorado; son John (Julie) Childs of Ames, Iowa; sister Meryl Duffy of Long Pine; brother Dean Frazier of Pleasant Valley, CA; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Glenn, Harold and Ford, sister Ruth, sons Ivan Donald Childs and David Floyd Childs and granddaughter Cynthia Kay (Calvert) Smith.
