

Margaret Joyce Benson, 63, of Morrill, Nebraska, formerly of North Platte, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. As per Margaret’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Morrill Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Memorials may be sent in care of the family to 1838 19th Ave, Mitchell, Ne 69357. Margaret was born January 18, 1948, the youngest of four children to Frank and Veva Fillingham. She was raised in Morrill, graduating from Morrill High School in 1966. On November 6, 1966 she married Jerry Benson, and to this union two children, Tammie Lynn and Brenton John were born. Margaret was a homemaker when her children were small, and once they reached school age, she began working at Western National Bank where she worked for many years. In 1992, she moved to North Platte where she worked for several years at Hallmark. She also managed Victorian Square Apartments for 18 years. Margaret was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was particularly dedicated later in life to her grandchildren, spending countless hours attending their activities, working on projects with them, and traveling across Nebraska and to Colorado to their football and baseball games and wrestling tournaments. Margaret was an avid sports fan, her favorite teams being the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Denver Broncos and Chicago Cubs. Some of her favorite pastimes were days spent hanging out watching ballgames with her grandsons. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Tammie Brown (Joseph Cissell) of Lincoln; her son, Bo (Regan) Benson of Littleton, Colorado; grandchildren, Zack Richards, Brenton Brown, Jerromy Cissell, Blake Benson, Jacob Cissell, Cody Richards, Samantha Cissell, Bryce Benson, and Brock Benson; brothers, John Fillingham (Linda Dobson) and Allan Fillingham both of Morrill; sister, Aloha (Will) Hettinger of Mitchell; sister-in-Law, Cheryl Travis of Broomfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved and cherished very much.
