Margaret A. Greene, 84, of Gering, died Monday, December 19, 2005, at Heritage Health Care Center, Gering. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. A graveside service will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Park at Scottsbluff with Pastor Don Van Deraa officiating. Margaret was born May 10, 1921, at Taylor, Nebraska to Herman and Ella Mae (Montgomery) Behrends. She attended high school at Ord, Nebraska. On August 12, 1939, she married Irvin Greene at Bartlett, Nebraska. They lived at Sargent, Nebraska, where they owned a restaurant for a year before moving to Gering. She worked at Big John’s Barbeque as a waitress with other family members for 25 years. She also cooked at WNCC for a brief time. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and bingo. She was on a bowling league for 20 years and a member of the Grandmother’s League. Survivors include her children, Dennis Greene of Gering, Geri (Ron) Damon of Loveland, Colorado, Robert (Bev) Greene of Scottsbluff and Barbara (Dick) Karsting of Auburn, California; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Her parents, her husband, three brothers and a stepsister preceded her in death.
