Maria "Mary" Del Rosario Longoria de Hernandez

Maria Del Rosario Longoria de Hernandez, 65, of Norfolk, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2021. Cremation has taken place. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Scottsbluff with Father Joseph Thambi officiating. Maria was born March 1, 1956 at San Benito, Texas to Fernando G. Longoria and Belen Chavez de Longoria. The family moved to Scottsbluff where she received her education at Roosevelt Elementary and Scottsbluff High School.

Maria married Nicandro Hernandez and the couple made their home in Norfolk for the past 30 years.

Maria enjoyed everything in life – indoors and outdoors. She was the “John Candy” of the family who could make anyone laugh. She had an infectious smile, which made you smile in return. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her!

Maria is survived by her husband Nicandro Hernandez; children: Jason N. Hernandez and Jessica Hernandez Rageth; mother Belen Ch. Longoria; sisters: Fabiola Gutierrez, Beatriz Longoria, and Veronica L. Longoria; 9 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Fernando G. Longoria and maternal grandmother Atilana Ch. Garcia.
