Marie Joyce (Becker) Leavitt

Marie Joyce (Becker) Leavitt, age 67, of Gering, died Monday, December 24, 2007, at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Sunday, January 6, 2008, at Heritage Estates Chapel in Gering. Cremation has taken place at her request. Marie was born August 21, 1940, at Gordon, Nebraska to Lyle and Frances (Taylor) Becker. She received her education at Gordon schools. She married Donald Leavitt in 1957 and they made their home north of Gordon. Survivors include her son, Michael (Theresa) Leavitt of Chadron; daughter, Debra (Danny) Emrick of Scottsbluff; brothers, Loren (Diane) Becker and Larry (Diane) Becker both of North Carolina; sister, Kay Kinzie; six treasured grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends at Heritage Estates. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Donald Leavitt; parents, Lyle and Frances Becker; son, Ronald Leavitt; sisters, Doris Schildhauer and Delores Kelley; two nephews; and a great-nephew. Marie’s life was lived for her children and her grandchildren. Her family saw her talent, strength, patience and gentleness lived throughout her lifetime. She was a very kind and loving grandmother and considered her grandchildren her treasures in her life. She was a great caretaker and loyal friend. Marie touched many lives and will be missed greatly by all. Marie lived life simply, please dress comfortably.
