

Mary Belle Holten, 89, passed away October 18, 2017 at Mitchell Care Center. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on October 30th at Gering Zion Church with Tim Hebbert officiating. Burial will be held on a later date in Loveland, Colorado so her final resting place will be with her beloved husband Ray. In Lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be given to the family for Mary’s burial expenses.
Mary was born December 12, 1927 to Floyd and Elva (Imus) Lackey. She attended school in Minatare, Nebraska. She married Raymond Holten on May 30, 1943 in Harrisburg, Nebraska. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before he passed away. They moved to California in 1945 and lived there 26 years before returning to Gering, Nebraska. They also lived in Sheridan, Wyoming and Loveland, Colorado. Mary returned to Gering in 1993.
Mary’s greatest love was family. Caring for her children and her grandchildren brought her great joy. She had so much compassion to all who met her. She was selfless, humble, supportive and encouraging. Always loving and kind. She never complained and was always smiling and wanting to know how you were doing.
Mary enjoyed auctions, garage sales, growing tomatoes, camping with Ray, and family gatherings. She loved to read medical books and watch classic movies.
Survivors include her Sons Randy (Barb) Holten and Tim Holten of Gering. Her daughter Cheryl (Ron) Harms of Loveland, Colorado. Her brother and sister n law Ron and Diane Lackey of Gering. Grand Children Joy Holten, Allison Bernhardt, Christie Spencer, Robert Harms, Kimberly Cadwell, Krystal Holten, Kate Cortney, Nick Holten, Kenny Holten and Rachel Harms. And 21 Great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Elva lackey, daughter Roxann Holten, Granddaughter Melanie Conroy, Great Granddaughter Natalie Conroy, her brothers Roy, Jerry & Tom, Lackey. Sisters Leota McCune, Judy Cole, Myrle Howie, Birdie Lopez and Inez Steele.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dugan Kramer Funeral Home, Mitchell Care Center staff and the Regional West hospice staff who showed great compassion to Mary.
