

Norma Jean Prouty, 78, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at Heritage Estates in Gering. Her funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Calvin Prouty officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Friends may visit from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to Festival of Hope. Norma Jean was born September 29, 1932, at Phillips, Nebraska to Samuel and Faye (Manka) England. She graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1950. She then worked at Methodist Hospital in Scottsbluff. On May 31, 1958, she married Donald Prouty. She was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers and enjoyed working on genealogy. Survivors include her husband, Donald Prouty; son, Randy (Karen) Prouty of Scottsbluff; daughter, Diana (Juan) De Los Santos of Scottsbluff; grandchildren, Jeremy Prouty of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Megan Prouty of Scottsbluff, and Dustin Avila of Grand Island; stepdaughter, Donna (Rod) Porter of Blue Springs, Missouri; stepson, Bill (Kristi) Jones of Azle, Texas; brother-in-law, Stanley (Carolyn) Prouty; and sisters-in-law, Jean Thompson, Julia (Lyle) Prouty, and Carol (Walter) Prouty. Norma Jean is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, Walter, Lyle and Leslie Prouty and Clarence Thompson; and sisters-in-law, Norma Hegwood and Barb Prouty.
