Her education began in Mexico and she continued to finish in Scottsbluff, NE. In 1999, Norma Salazar began her battle with renal failure. On July 9th, 2003, she was able to receive a kidney from her sister, Mari Salazar. This blessing granted Norma the ability to experience the freedom from medical hardships. This unfortunately only lasted 3 years until the kidney transplant failed. This never stopped Norma from fulfilling everyday responsibilities of motherhood as a single parent. Amongst her many passions such as doing activities with her kids, cooking and enjoying family gatherings, she most of all enjoyed being a grandmother to her three grand babies Mayah, Xayden, and Nathanial.
Norma was survived by her husband Hector Hernandez and her daughter and two sons; Selena Ramirez (Miguel Zepeda), Julian Salazar (Elisa Figueroa-Perez), and Eddie Ramirez (Jovana Ramirez); and her siblings: Juan (Jenny) Salazar, Alejandro (Samantha) Salazar, Lupe Salazar.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents San Juana and Miguel Salazar, her siblings Fernando Salazar and Mari Salazar, along with many beloved aunts and uncles.
