Richard Allen Alkire, 63, of Gering, died Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare with military honors by Nebraska Army National Guard. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com Richard was born January 9, 1950 in Scottsbluff, NE to Bert Lee and Anna Marie (Johnson) Alkire. He entered the Army May 28, 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharge September 14, 1971. He returned to the Scottsbluff-Gering where he was employed as a truck driver. He is survived by his mother Anna Marie Johnson Alkire of Gering; children: Christina Rene Alkire, Oklahoma and John Lincoln Alkire of Colorado; sisters: Cheryl Biltjinitis, Scottsbluff, NE, Carol McDaniel, Gering, NE, Linda Thompson, Kennewick, WA,Barbara (Larry) Miller, Gillette, WY and Sandra (Jim) Kotschwar, Gillette, WY several nieces and nephews and special friend Mary Ellen Gurule. He was preceded in death by his father and cousins Dion Johnson and Marilyn Kabris.
