Rick and Janice Brown

Richard Joseph Brown, a devoted husband, beloved brother, and gifted athlete, passed away after suffering a stroke, just one day after Janice Brown, the love of his life, left this world. His passing marks the end of a beautiful love story that spanned 43 years of marriage, a testament to his deep and unwavering love for Janice.

Celebration of life for him and Janice Brown will be at 11:00 am, Friday, June 27th, 2025, at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel.

Richard was not only a great man but also a talented basketball player. Those who knew him remember his warm spirit, his unwavering dedication to family and friends, and the way he carried himself.

He is survived by his brother Robbie Brown, who will forever cherish the memories they shared.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Brown, his parents Don and Alberta Brown, as well as his sister Mackie Brown and brother Randall Brown.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Janice Robina Heilbrun Brown

Surprise, Arizona.

She was born January 6, 1955, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and graduated from Gering High School in 1973.

Celebration of life for her and Rick Brown will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 27, 2025, at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel, 3201 Ave B, Scottsbluff, NE, 69361.

Always active and laughing, she grew up on the family farm. Janice participated in sports and band in high school. After high school, she worked at several jobs, which led her to a job in Los Angeles, California with John Reed Enterprises. The management company for Elton John and Queen. One of her responsibilities was ordering a sequin piano cover for an Elton John performance and flying to Canada to deliver a fur coat to Elton John. She had a great time meeting celebrities and living in California.

On returning to Nebraska, she eventually became business manager for the family business, working with her father and two brothers for 35 + years until 2015 when she retired due to Parkinson’s.

Janice married Rick Brown September 26, 1981. They were married for 43 years. Rich was her loyal caregiver through the last years.

Janice is survived by her brothers Ron (Julie) and Ted; sisters Lorene and Nancy (Michael) Gallawa; brother-in-law Rob Brown; nephews Jason (Shannon), Josh (Vanessa), Nathan, Zach Gallawa, Dean, and Hugh; nieces Michele Gallawa Hilliard, Andrea Gallawa and Stephanie Brown-Marrill; great nieces and nephews Madeline Hilliard, Olivia Hilliard, Chase Hilliard, Tristen, Trinity, Quinnly, Charlotte, Max, Alex, Elizabeth, Augusten, Luciana, Fabio, Luca, and Jaxon Marrill.

She is preceded by her parents Harold and Betty Heilbrun and in-laws Donald and Alberta Brown; sister-in-law Mackie Brown; brother-in-law Randall Brown; nephew Jeffrey Heilbrun; niece Robin Heilbrun.
