

Robert Allan Lacy, 79, of Minatare, passed away, Saturday, May 21, 2011, in the home he built near Lake Minatare. His memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps. Casual attire is requested. Memorials have been established to Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit at Regional West Medical Center and Scottsbluff Police Department, K-9 Unit. Bob was born to Allan and Ima Lacy on December 23, 1931, at Scottsbluff. He attended Victory Hill School and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 and was trained to be a blacksmith but was selected for duty guarding the U.S. embassies in Thailand and Formosa until 1955. He personified the phrase, “once a Marine always a Marine.” He was very proud of his service to this country. Bob then joined the Scottsbluff Police Department where, besides his regular duties he was a Firearms Instructor, Bomb Disposal Technician and graduated for the FBI National Academy in 1968. Bob served as Assistant Chief for many years and retired from the Police Department in 1991. He participated in many pistol tournaments and was consistently one of the top marksmen. He also enjoyed hunting and was an avid fisherman. Bob was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Elks, a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Police Officers Association of Nebraska. Bob married Glenda Greenlee on November 1, 1958, and raised four boys, before moving to Lake Minatare. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Lacy; sons, Tony (Pam) Lacy of Scottsbluff, Mike Lacy of Gering, Bryan Lacy of Minatare and Brad (Kim) Lacy of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Charity and husband John Ondriezek, Josh and Heather Lacy, Jacob and Erica Lacy, Tyler and Coleen, four great-grandchildren, Chance, Shiloh, Hannah, and Haven; brothers, Gene and Gordon; and sister, Claudia. His parents and brother, Harvey preceded in death.
