

Ruth A. Gregg, 90 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska died Monday, September 1, 2008 at Heritage Estates in Gering. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Father Stephen Deaver as celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A Scripture Service will be Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Ruth was born July 15, 1918 on a farm near Crawford, NE. (which was the first Homestead listed in Dawes County) to Ralph and Bardeana (Crail) Reed. She was the fourth of nine children born. She graduated from Crawford High School in 1935 and attended Chadron Normal School and received her Teaching Certificate. She taught rural schools for a few years. She moved to California, where she joined and married her husband Donald W. Gregg on November 26, 1941 in Reno, Nevada. They lived in San Francisco until Don received his draft notice. Ruth moved to Nebraska to live with her parents while her husband was in the service during the war. After his discharge from the Air Corp, they moved to the Scottsbluff-Gering area, where they raised six children. She was Past President on the Gering School Board. She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church and an active member of the Alter Society. She worked at the Bargain Bin. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family very much. Survivors include her brother Maurice (Evelyn) Reed of Crawford; children: James “Jim” Gregg of Loveland, CO, Robert Gregg of Scottsbluff, Barbara Becker of Scottsbluff, Richard Gregg of Scottsbluff and Dr. Jennifer Gregg and husband Paul Sisler of Louisville, Kentucky; four grandchildren: Jeremy Becker of Scottsbluff, Amanda Becker Libsack (Chad) of Morrill and Graham and Evan Sisler of Louisville, Kentucky and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her seven brothers and sisters, parents, husband, Donald and daughter, Janice Gregg.
