

Shirley Lee Sams Haun, 81, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Village at Regional West in Scottsbluff. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Jeff Porter officiating. Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Shirley was born December 16, 1923 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Edward and Margret (Leonard) White. She came to Scottsbluff with her parents in 1928. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1941 where she was salutatorian. She married Harvey L. Sams in 1946. She was a bookkeeper for Swift & Co and operated a preschool prior to becoming a partner at Fenimore Bookkeeping in Scottsbluff. She and Harvey retired in 1978 and moved to Green Valley, AZ. Harvey preceded her in death in 1983 and she returned to Gering where she was active in the Presbyterian Church, Church Women United, where she helped promote the construction of Hunt’s Acres Community Center and was a member of PEO Chapter EV of Gering. At her 50th class reunion, she met classmate Ruben Haun and they were married in November of 1992. They lived in Arizona before moving to Paul, Idaho. Due to the ill health of both Shirley and Ruben she returned to Scottsbluff to be near her daughters. She is survived by her husband: Ruben Haun of Paul, ID; daughters: Peg (Maurie) Deines, Connie (Dennis) Kramer all of Gering and Pat Heidecker of Imperial, MO; grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Currens of Eagan, MN, Matthew (Jami) Deines of San Diego, CA, Rebecca Deines of Greeley, CO, Jason (Becky) Kramer of Lincoln, NE, Jackie (Adam) Goss of Bloomington, IN, Erin (Bill) Drummonds, Crystal City, MO, and Kyle and Randi Heidecker both of Imperial, MO; Great grandchildren: Mara and Benjamin Currens, Ethan and Braden Kramer, Allie and Nathan Goss; Jenna and Jackson Drummonds and Kylie Heidecker; nephews: Corey Eittreim and Terry Eittreim and niece Sally Eittreim all of Scottsbluff, four stepdaughters and two stepsons. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harvey, parents and sister: Betty Eittreim.
