To all of Shirley's family,
I was a 10 year old girl when my dad, Merle Denning married Emma Deines.  That was the day that all of the Deines family made me a part of their family.  My life has been truly blessed by the inclusion into this family.  Shirley became my first cousin.  Each summer always included a trip to Nebraska to stay and see all  of the family.  What great fun memories!!  And oh the great German food!!!  It was Shirley and all of the Deines clan that taught me the true meaning of family.  For this I will forever be thankful.  
I am so sorry that I can't be there to be with everyone today.  I am glad that my daughter, Julie is there to be with the family.  Shirley was a great role model to me and walked the walk of her faith.  It is such a comfort knowing she is with the Lord.

I remember taking piano lessons in your basement and recitals at the music store. Shirley was always sweet and supportive, even to students like me, who were taking lessons because siblings had that talent. Shirley was a beautiful soul we we're lucky to know.

Dear Pam, Emmett, Rod, Netta & family:  Your Mother,  my cousin Shirley Green-Jones, had a sophisticated style, beauty and confidence about her that resonated through out our family.  This gift from Shirley will remain with us forever.  I will always remember and appreciate these things about  Shirley and  most of all,  I will miss her kindness and wonderful sense of humor. Dear Loved Ones:
I have such wonderful childhood memories out at Lake Minatare with Shirley and the family. At Shirley's 90th birthday party, she and I laughed so hard once more recalling the time Shirley had infant Natasha in the rocking chair at our house in Webster City. The gang hand come to visit and we were all sitting around listening to Dave play the guitar, when Shirley went over backwards in the rocking chair with her feet sticking up in the air. Everyone was okay and Dave didn't miss a beat and kept on playing! 
We love you, Shirley. Thanks for all the kindness, laughter, and fun times.

If I remember right in the 40s, Shirley used to sing at the front entrance of Murphy's.  My Gma Evie Meier and I would  stand and listen.  I believe she was in the same age range as my Aunt Ruthe Meier Keeley.  
I also remember when she was married to Ken.  You always had a great time when they were around i.e. parties, dances, etc.  I can't verify this information as my family sources are gone.  I do know that Shirley and Ken Green had a great impact on many people and their family should be comforted by those share their loss.

Shirley was always stunningly beautiful  with that warm smile and twinkle in her eye;  pure class.  Sincere condolences Rod and family.

What a loss and what a void left behind—Shirley was my rock during my pastorate at Plymouth Congregational church. 

At times I would be emotionally drained and exhausted and she would listen, sympathize, crack jokes, and tell me how she wished she was younger because she would fight for me. 

I always left her house refreshed, renewed, and never empty handed. 

I have come to find out, that people like her are few and far in between and I’m going to miss her like crazy!

We still talked regularly and it always seemed she would call when I was thinking about her and vice versa. 

Shirley could be sick in the hospital or displaced in a nursing home recovering and she’d still ask how I was doing and if I needed anything. 

Words fail to convey what she meant to me personally! 

I vividly recall how she was sad and upset because of an injury due to a fall. And while in a nursing home, longing to be home,  her granddaughter brought her a sign that read, “It is well with my soul,” which day on her widow ledge. 

And we sat together and read the story behind that hymn  and said our prayers and asked the Lord for comfort and  strength . 

Her resolve was unmatched. Her support was steadfast. Her love was unquestioned. Her generosity knew no bounds. But most of all, her faith and friendship drew deep from the Saviour’s heart.

I’m a better pastor because of her and she will be among the first I look for in heaven. 

Now it’s my turn to look out my window, from where I reside and say, “It is well with my soul.”

I love you dearly, Ms. Shirley!
