

Shirley Louise Sample, 77 of Scottsbluff passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 22, 2015. Services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at The Rock Church with Pastors Tyson Lambertson and Ken Trevithick officiating. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials in Shirley’s honor may be made to the Prairie Haven Hospice. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com. Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley was born July 18, 1938 in Wheatland, Wyoming to Robert Leo Allbaugh and Marjorie (McCarty) Allbaugh. She moved with her family to Scottsbluff in 1943. She attended Roosevelt Elementary and graduated from Scottsbluff High School. She married Richard “Dick” Sample on December 30, 1959. Two sons were born to this marriage, Joe and Randall “Scott.”
Shirley was a homemaker with many interests. She helped her husband Dick operate Sample Crane Service until his health forced him to retire. She enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting. She enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy and had traced the families back several generations. As her health failed, she enjoyed the antics of the birds and squirrels at her birdfeeder as well as keeping a watchful eye on the neighborhood. She had very special neighbors with whom she enjoyed visiting.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Joe and wife Jeanne of Terrytown, Scott and wife Melina of Moreno Valley, California; 2 grandchildren, Brennan and Aubrianna of Moreno Valley. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, LaVerne Allbaugh of Scottsbluff and Judy Allbaugh of Terrytown, stepbrother Roland Coe and wife Marlene of Scottsbluff and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Sample, her parents, her stepfather Clarence Coe, brothers Donald Allbaugh and Robert Allbaugh, stepbrother Gary Couse and stepsisters Charlette Shaw and Shirley Burndt.
