

Wilma F. Kaps, 97 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at her caregiver’s home. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Rodney Long officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. She was born November 24, 1908 to Charles and Evalyn Uglow at her grandmother’s place in Bassett. She grew up on a farm homesteaded by her parents, north of Scottsbluff, and attended Victory Hill School. She graduated from the 10th grade in 1924. In 1926, she graduated from High School in Hastings. In 1927, she received a teaching certificate from Union College at Lincoln. She attended the College of Medical Evangelists at Loma Linda California and received a nursing degree in 1932. In 1953, she taught at Hillcrest School for three years. She was featured at the first Victory Hill reunion in 2002 as the oldest former student known. She married George Kaps on December 1, 1933. They moved to a farm across the road from Victory Hill School and lived there until 1987. They moved to R.C. Scott Apartments, where she continued to live after her the death of her husband. She moved to the Mitchell Care Center in March of 2005. She celebrated her 97th birthday on November 24 and on December 1, she moved to an apartment in Scottsbluff. Wilma is survived by her daughters Phyllis Randall of Milton-Freewater, Oregon and Marilyn Bobst of Palm Desert California; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her husband George L. Kaps on December of 1989, her sister Jane Lucas and her brother Homer Uglow preceded her in death.
