Celeste Antoinette Barkman, 73, passed away on January 5, 2017. She was born on August 6, 1943 to Rollie K. and Catheryn (Tansey) DeMond in Hastings, Michigan. Celeste has made her home in Texas for over 40 years, but her cremated remains will be spread over her home state of Michigan at a later date. She was Catholic by faith. Celeste loved to dance, was an excellent cook and was a very headstrong woman. She was always taking in “strays”, whether it be people or animals. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. Preceding her in death are her parents Rollie and Catheryn DeMond; siblings: Joseph DeMond, Sal Watson, Mary Graham and Yvonne McClary. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Shauna and husband, Hugh Whitaker II and Tiffany Marin; grandchildren: Tony Marin, Mariah Marin, Logan Whitaker, Colin Whitaker and Lucky Ruiz; brother Roger DeMond and wife, Barbara; nieces and nephews: Russell DeMond, Theresa Tiffany, Scott DeMond, Kay Ivey, Tina Clearfield and Salisha Semenoff; her beloved cat, Elvis and numerous other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly. A gathering of friends and family will be 2:00 – 4:00 on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, TX.
