Esperanza was born on October 10, 1945, in Crandall, Texas, to Ubaldo Moya and Sophia H Chavez. From the very beginning, she carried a quiet strength and an unshakable devotion to family that would define her life.
Family was her whole heart. Becoming a mother brought her immense joy, and she embraced that calling with courage, even at a young age. Strong-willed and deeply determined, Esperanza worked tirelessly to give her children the best life she could, never shrinking from sacrifice. She dedicated 35 years of service to General Motors in Arlington, Texas, a testament to her work ethic and perseverance.
On February 18, 1987, she married the love of her life, Salvador “Sal” Marquez. Together they built a life grounded in faith, love, and family.
Esperanza found peace and purpose in God’s word and was rarely without her Bible. Her hands were rarely still, either sewing, quilting, creating art, and crafting beauty into everyday life. Her kitchen was always alive with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of home-cooked meals, as she loved hosting and welcoming friends and family from near and far. Above all, she cherished time spent with her beloved granddaughter, Nadia, who brought her endless joy.
A woman of unwavering faith, Esperanza prayed faithfully every morning and every night for her family. She was truly a prayer warrior, lifting others up in quiet moments known only to God. There is no doubt she entered heaven hearing the words, “Well done,” and now rests with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sophia Chavez and Ubaldo Moya; her son, Mario Salas; and her siblings, Martha Trevino, Johnny Moya Sr., and Lupe Moya, who welcomed her home.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, her only girl, Felicia Ann Salas; her treasured granddaughter, Nadia Leota Rodriguez; her siblings, Mary Esther Saldana and Felix Moya; and a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends who were blessed by her presence.
Esperanza lived a long, full, and faithful life. Her prayers, love, and legacy will continue to echo through generations.
