Harlon Drake was born in Houston, TX to Easton and Elva Lee (Droddy) Drake on February 8, 1953 and passed away July 20, 2020 in Mt. Vernon, TX. He is preceded in death by his brother, Forest Drake. Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Brenda Pennington and husband, R.C., niece, Cynthia Scott and husband, Jason, and by many other friends from all over the country.
In 1971 Drake graduated from Memphis High School in Tennessee. He was proud to serve his country with the United States Air Force in the early 1970's. He loved working at the Grand Teton National Park where he retired after 25 years as Director of Grocery Operations.
He loved fly fishing at Lake Jackson Grand Teton National Park and raising chickens during his first summer back in Texas and he enjoyed playing the banjo. He remained in touch with so many of the employees that had worked with in the grocery operations of the National Park.
Once he retired last year, he came back to Texas to live full time. He immediately ordered baby chicks to raise. His dog, Vegas, would herd them back into the chicken pen in the evening when it was time for him to close them up for the night.
He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
