Hope Virginia Burkett, lovingly known to many as Ginger, was born in Berkeley, California, on March 8, 1949, and went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2026, at the age of 76. Her life was marked by kindness, quiet strength, and a steadfast devotion to the people she loved.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Arreta Lawrence; her sisters Ruby Vassar, Reva Lawson, and Kathy Niblack; and her brothers Joe Don Lawrence and JT Lawrence. Though she endured great loss, she carried each memory with grace and continued to pour love into her family with unwavering dedication.
A longtime resident of Seagoville, Texas, Ginger built a life centered on faith, family, and compassion. She is survived by her husband, Stoney Burkett, the love of her life and her constant companion. Their bond was one of deep loyalty and quiet devotion — a partnership rooted in friendship, laughter, and the kind of steady love that carried them through every season of life.
Ginger’s heart was never fuller than when she was with her boys. She leaves behind her two sons, Bryan Cline and wife Tina, and Danny Howard and wife Amber, whom she adored beyond measure. To Bryan and Danny, she was not only a mother but a source of comfort, encouragement, and unconditional love. She celebrated their victories, stood beside them through challenges, and took immense pride in the men they became. Her love for them was the kind that shaped lives — gentle, fierce, and everlasting.
She also embraced her bonus children — Chris Burkett and wife Tara, Cody Burkett and wife Krissie, and Shannon Suitor — with the same open heart, welcoming them fully into her life and loving them as her own.
Her legacy continues through her 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, each one a testament to the warmth, wisdom, and joy she shared so freely.
Ginger is also survived by a large and loving extended family—nieces, nephews, cousins, and in laws—along with countless friends, church family, and neighbors who cherished her deeply. Her gentle humor, generous spirit, and unwavering kindness made every person feel seen and valued.
Ginger will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to honor a woman whose gentle spirit and generous heart touched every life she encountered.
May her memory be a blessing and may the love she gave continue to shine through those who carry her in their hearts.
