Jerry William McMahon, Sr. and his wife, Aurora Zaragoza McMahon passed away, within hours of each other, on May 22, 2015. They were each other’s “love of their life” and enjoyed 47 happy years of marriage. Jerry was born on October 13, 1949 to William and Billie (Hammock) McMahon of Dallas, TX. He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp and won numerous medals during the Vietnam war. Jerry believed in hard work and relaxing with a cold beer. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as Papa, playing computer poker games and fishing every now and then, but most of all, he loved quality time with his family. Aurora was born on January 3, 1951 to Jose (Joe) Zaragoza and Petra (Betty) Zaragoza of Dallas, TX. She loved to shop, decorating her home and the holidays. She loved family get-to-gathers and enjoyed Christmas time most of all, as she would bake breads, cookies and brownies and give platters to each family. Meme, as she was known to the grandchildren, loved to spend quality time with them and will be missed dearly. Aurora was a waitress at the Clover Restaurant for 25 years and then became a licensed cosmetologist and was an instructor at the Metroplex Beauty School for over 5 years. She had a fantastic personality that endeared her to all of her patrons at the restaurant. Both Jerry and Aurora are preceded in death by their parents. Those left to survive and cherish their memories are children: Christine Curtis and husband, Scott; Tonya Leonardi and husband, Jason; Sonya Long and Jerry McMahon, Jr. Grandchildren: Amanda Curtis, Krystal Mayo, Gena Leonardi, Bret Leonardi, Alicia McMahon, Brittany Long, Shawn Long, Stephanie McMahon, Teresa McMahon, Alexis McMahon, Kaylynn McMahon and Julie McMahon. Great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Samantha, Calli, Claire, Soren and one more on the way and a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at 6:00 – 8:00, Friday, May 29, 2015 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00, Saturday, May 30, 2015.
