

Billie Joan (Ward) Strain was born in Bonham, TX on June 12th, 1946 to Thomas Glen and Thelma Jane (Rogers) Ward. She was welcomed into her Heavenly Home with The Lord on March 4th, 2020. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother James Glen Ward and her husband of 50 yrs., Bennie. Left with sweet memories to cherish is her daughter Kellie Fennell and husband Randy, granddaughter Mayci Jenkins and husband Justin, Step granddaughter Chelsea Winfrey and husband Joe. Daughter Paula Waugh, grandson Michael Waugh, niece Kathy (Ward) Anshutz and husband Hal, niece Jana (Ward) Shelton and husband Greg, nephew Roger Ward and wife Connie, along with much loved extended family and friends.
Jo was a devoted wife, mom and Nonnie. She loved Bennie, her girls, her grandkids and Jesus. Her interests included sewing, painting, gardening, cooking and crafting. She became the City Secretary of Combine, TX when Bennie served as Mayor. Jo spent the majority of her working career as a Bookkeeper and Receptionist, although she tried her hand at Nursing and Real Estate. She worked alongside of Bennie during the girl’s teenage years as Church Youth Leaders and Camp Counselors. Jo treasured her Ladies Bible Study group and the sisterhood of wonderful friends and encouragement it provided. In Retirement, she and Bennie spent time with family and friends, traveled, and shopped every Yard Sale between here and East Texas. What a life and amazing legacy to be handed down, and it all started at Point View Baptist Church on a hayride.
The family will receive friends at Visitation Monday March 9th, 2020 from 6-8 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, TX. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday March 10th at Roselawn.
Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Combine, TX. Pastor Bob Parry officiating.
