Best known as Mommie Kat, she is survived by her children, Mike and Mary Jo Ballard, Jan and Steve Person, and Julie and Alex Herschkowitsch; grandchildren Nicholas and Kristyn Ballard, Alexis Herschkowitsch and Ben Rosenblum, Savannah Brown, and Charles Person; and the apples of her eye, her great grandchildren Walker and William Brown and Ansel Rosenblum.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ballard. Kathryn served as an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Seagoville for the majority of her life and was vocal in her love for Jesus as her Savior. Ahead of her time, she was both doting mom and successful businesswoman with her husband.
She was a lifelong artist and enjoyed painting, knitting, reading books, and playing the organ and piano. She was a brave woman who was never afraid to tell anyone the truth, whether it was a critique or a compliment. Our Kat maintained her strong will and spirit until the end, and it will live on in her loving family.
Before her death and in line with her personality, Kathryn made instructions for the following to be included:
"Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that we shared in life; miss me but let me go. This is a journey that we all must make, and each must make it alone. It is simply a part of the Master's plan, a final step in the road leading home. Don't be lonely and grieve for me, I'm happier now, you know. Bury your sorrow and get on with your life, miss me, but let me go."
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice that supports children and the arts.
