I was shocked to hear the sad news. LaDonna worked with me and was my boss for sometime while we were at Chase. She was not just a boss but a friend. We did many work trips together, New York, New Jersey, Chicago and Phoenix. We always had fun and great food after a hard days work. We spent many a weekend locked up together working conversions. Lots of time together makes you become close like a family. After we had both left Chase we still remained friends. Many a time we had talked about all of work gang getting together again someplace that was half way from each our homes - we never made that happened as everyone’s life got in the way.
Phillip any time LaDonna talked about you her eyes lit up. She loved you and you could tell just about how she spoke about you. I know she will be missed by you and by many. The memories will be what keeps us going. Prayers for you Phillip and the whole family.

Philip, Danielle, Rachelle, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. We all know that LaDonna was a ray of sunshine.

We worked together for many years, and LaDonna was always ready to dig into the new and upcoming projects with anticipation and excitement. We worked hard and we played hard, because we always celebrated when the hard work was completed. She was willing to share her knowledge freely, and would help anyone in need. She set the example, and others willingly followed her lead.

Our ties extended beyond the workplace and we became great friends. LaDonna was like a sister to me, and when we travelled together, we were always asked if we were sisters. "Of course we are" is what we said.

The last time LaDonna came to Phoenix we had such a good time "swimming," and of course dinner which included much laughter and fun. We also began planning our next get together in Vegas in Feb. of 2020. Then work got in the way and we had to postpone, and then the pandemic hit. We were still planning to go when things got back to normal. Now things will never be back to normal - my heart hurts. God received one of the best angels he will ever have.

LaDonna was a blessing to everyone she encountered, and I will always cherish our times together. We laughed together and cried together. I can still see her smile and that little "wink" she would give when she felt ornery. I miss you my sweet friend, and may you rest in peace.

My condolences to Philip and LaDonna's whole family.

I worked with LaDonna for years at Bank One within the System Security team among other roles. She was a person of trust and provided help and guidance to me relatively early in my career which I will always be grateful for.

Those years were a lot of travel to Columbus OH including a huge effort in consolidating Mainframe applications from the mergers. LaDonna was a key contributor in planning and executing over several weeks/months. LaDonna was always full of positive energy and sharing stories about her family which was clear to many as contributing to her positiveness and joy which spilled over to those around her.

I hope those stories and times with her lift your hearts and provide you comfort.

Sincerely,
Damon

It was a pleasure working with LaDonna Bedford, during several of Bank One’s system conversions. She was a wealth of knowledge and a very dedicated technician. I learned a lot regarding the inner workings of the IBM mainframe’s security process from LaDonna.

While driving from Illinois to Arizona with my wife (Roxanne) in 2008 we stayed overnight in the Dallas area. We were able to go out to dinner with LaDonne, Phillip and James North and his wife. We all had a great time. Yes, we talked about the “bad ass cheeseburger” place LaDonna would tell us over our conference calls with our ACF2 Security Team’s in Chicago, Columbus, OH and DFW.

Phillip, and to all of LaDonna friends and family, she will be missed. May you find comfort in your memories.

LaDonna and I were members of a great team at Bank One. I remember her vividly, as she was a happy and kind person . She will live on in my memory, as I’m sure she will in the memories of countless others.

(Part 2 of 3)

Pride – While LaDonna did have some difficult times in her past, she has always been proud of her family and heritage. She loves her time spent and her people down in and around Gonzales. Her pride in the historic slogan, “Come and Take It,” is testament to her feisty spirit and strength.

Intelligence – LaDonna is one of the most well-educated women I have ever known. She always wants to learn more and better ways of doing things. She has been in classes and training the whole time I have known her the last five years or so.

Ambition – LaDonna did achieve another Master’s Degree recently. She told me she needed it in this man’s world, to advance in her field. While she denies it, I know that she already exceeded their capabilities, and it was to prove to all of them that she deserves the recognition and promotion. She was working toward helping provide a comfortable, stress-free retirement and happy future with family.

Love – This word was LaDonna. She had a love that was unending. She took me and my family as her own family. She quickly found such an important part in my heart. And she had room in her big heart for everyone she knew and loved.

Family – While I miss her terribly, feeling for her family is what hurts me the most. Family is everything to her. And she is so much to this family. LaDonna has unending love for her brother, Danny Ray, and deeply missed him after his passing.
She loves and wants the best of everything for the boys, Will and Luke. She loves her daughter-in-laws, Heather and Kylee, as her own. Her nieces, Danielle, Rachelle, and nephew Stevie Ray; her grandchildren Kane, Kinley, their little sister Kali, Liv, and Layne; and Great-nieces and -nephews; are her everything so to speak. I hear so much about all the kids, and their unique personalities. Her family are all such pretty people too!

(Part 1 of 3)

I met LaDonna about five years ago, at a weekly Bible study at the Methodist church. She had recently started attending church there again, after attending in Mesquite where she had moved several years. We began to talk, and it was like we had known each other forever. She introduced me to Phil, and from then on I had a whole new part of the family.

I know most of us know her well, but I just want to highlight the great things I see in this woman and best friend. And in a fashion that she knows me for, this is put in a logical list.

Funny – She is funny, and willing to share her opinions about this goofy world around us, popular or not. She always supports my goofy humor, and always laughs when I have to explain what is going on in my head.

Fun – She loved trips to Surfside with Danny Ray and Charlene, and the rest of the family. She loves the ball games and cheerleading events, with all her kids, the nieces and nephews, and grandkids. And all her time spent with Phil.

Giving – She would give the shirt off her back if she thought you needed it. When I have needed things, like a ride for a broken down truck, or a place with the game on, she has always offered before I even got to talk to Phil. I insisted she consult him, but they are both so loving and giving. She continued her church giving even when she was not attending, and also when the church was not open.

Faithful – That brings me to her faith. She encouraged me to try different churches with her, and considers her faith to be the strongest center of her being. She and I have had several in depth discussions about our place in God’s kingdom, and His acceptance of us.

Grace – There have been times when I disappointed her, but she always found it in her heart to forgive. She can always look past the bad ways in people, and nurture the good in them. Now don’t get me wrong! She would never forget, but she can always forgive and accept.

And Phil – She does everything with Phil in mind. She has always been so unselfish in making a life and home with him. She loves hosting football game Saturdays and Sundays for Phil and I. Even if she is not a fan of the teams we watch, she enjoys watching (or napping) with us for hours. Even when she was in the middle of studying to improve herself. And she can make an amazing beef tips and gravy!

I just wish I had met her so much sooner! I say all of this as if she is not gone. She will always be in the hearts, minds, and character of each of us. And with her faith and the grace of God, she is in a better place in Heaven!

We love you LaDonna!
