

Oma Chancey Reece, 93, passed away on September 6, 2015 in Mesquite, TX. She was born on February 25, 1922 to Hamilton Randolph and Elizabeth (Whitescarver) Chancey, Sr. in the Mulberry community of Texas. Oma set a very good example with her firm Christian values, honesty and integrity and imparted these same values to her family. She loved the Church of Christ in Seagoville where she was a member for many, many years. She was an excellent cook and accomplished seamstress, having made a wedding dress worn by all three of her daughters as well as sewing her own dress, the bridesmaids and flower girls dresses. Oma enjoyed working crossword puzzles, “42” and reading. She and her husband, Loyd Reece, also enjoyed traveling in their travel trailers with several other couples and continued to do so until his passing. Oma worked in the library at Abilene Christian College until she and her family moved to Seagoville in 1964, where she continued utilizing her clerical expertise in many physician offices in the area. Affectionately known as “G-Mom” to her family, Oma’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Preceeding her in death are her parents, husband of 51 years Loyd Reece, six brothers, one sister and granddaughter, Angie Rich. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Barbara Gibson and husband, Gerald, Joanne Rich, Dianne Calhoun and husband, Ron; grandchildren: Gayle Alstot and husband, Corvin, Ann Sinasac and husband, Craig, Dr. Patrick Gibson, Jonathan Rich and wife, Sarah, Philip Rich and wife, Angie, Lisha Patterson and husband, Bruce, Michael Guthrie and Jennifer Roper, Ronald Calhoun, Jr. and wife, Angie; great-grandchildren: Emma Sinasac, Sarah Sinasac, Wesley Rich, Tristan Rich, Taylor Rich, Brian Patterson and wife, Amy, Bethany Patterson , J.D. Roper, Wesley Calhoun and Kelly Calhoun; many nieces and nephews and host of friends that will miss her dearly, including life-long family friends Mary and Eldon Herndon. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Roselawn Funeral Home, Seagoville, TX. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 also at Roselawn Funeral Home. Oma will be laid to rest by her husband in the Garden of Faith at Grove Hill Cemetery, Dallas, TX at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
