

Sharon Ann Grubbs, of Crandall, Texas, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Forney, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and colleague to all who knew and loved her. Sharon was born on December 26, 1943, in Denton, Texas, to Merl and Elvin Newsom.
A devout Christian, Sharon lived her life grounded in her faith in Jesus Christ, which guided her with grace, compassion, and strength. She found comfort and hope in God’s promises and shared His love through her kindness and service to others.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Lisa and John, and a proud and loving grandmother to Allie and Amelia, who brought endless happiness to her heart. Her love for her children and grandchildren was constant, generous, and unwavering, and she cherished every moment spent together.
Sharon also had a love for travel and enjoyed exploring destinations throughout the United States and around the world. Some of her most exciting and memorable trips included trips to Israel and Panama. Sharon is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Jerry, who preceded her in death.
Sharon dedicated many years of her professional life as a counselor with the Dallas County Community College District. She earned a master’s degree in counseling from North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas) and also worked alongside her husband in his office, providing psychological counseling and compassionate care to patients. She was deeply committed to helping and encouraging students, patients, and colleagues alike. Her wisdom, compassion, and steady presence left a lasting impact on all who worked with her.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Lisa Slaughter, and Lisa’s husband, Michael; son, John Grubbs, and his wife, Kelly; granddaughters, Allie Grubbs and Amelia Grubbs; sister, Merlene Crisp; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other beloved family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jerry Grubbs, and her parents, Merl and Elvin Newsom.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Friday, February 6th at Central Baptist Church in Crandall, Texas, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in a private ceremony at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, February 9th.
