Tom had an impressive banking career, first being a bank examiner with the FDIC and later became a loan officer. He ended his banking career to seize the opportunity to purchase multiple daycare businesses, which he owned and operated successfully for over 34 years. He was a loving husband, very supportive father, a wonderful brother, a great friend and he was cherished by his employees. Prior to illness, he loved going to play golf with his friends once week, and when he was asked "How was your golf game?", he would say "My worst golf day was better than a good workday”. We also want to share that Tom’s favorite holiday was Christmas and he especially loved Christmas music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, C L and Cubie Lee Sparks, and his nephew, James Robert Palmer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 beautiful years, Michele; their son, Thomas Sparks; bonus son, Tyler Haygood, his wife Kristie and child Kenzie; Tom’s two daughters: Kishen Lavender, her husband Matthew and their two children Hunter and Chas, and Trisha Sparks and her children Colton, Chloe and Kyla; his sister, Tressia and husband Ernest Staton; his brother, Cris and wife Tammy Sparks; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Thank you to those who have expressed condolences and words of comfort, and a special thank you to Teresa Reitz for writing the obituary.
