

Veronica Lynn Burns, of Kaufman, TX, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, in Kaufman, TX. She will be remembered for the many roles she played with love and dedication throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. She was born on March 6, 1964, in Dallas, TX to Charles E. Burns and Mary L. Wheeler.
SuperGranny was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished 38 years with her hardworking husband, Bill, who stepped in to help raise her sons and granddaughters and faithfully supported her and the entire family throughout her life.
As a mother, she had a deep unwavering love for her three sons – Charles, Johnnie and Otis giving unconditional love while raising them. As a proud granny, she cherished every moment with her grandchildren, sharing stories, wisdom, and a love that made each of them feel special. She lovingly raised her two granddaughters from birth, Britney and Payton, whom she considered her own daughters, dedicating herself to nurturing them, guiding them, and surrounding them with love every day of their lives.
She was especially proud of her years as a dedicated school bus driver and trainer, safely transporting generations of students and mentoring new drivers with patience, care, and a deep commitment to the community she served.
SuperGranny will be remembered for her colorful commentary, over-the-top sense of humor, and a personality that was always blunt, real, and refreshingly honest. A loyal and supportive friend to many, she brought laughter, truth, and unforgettable energy into every room she entered.
Veronica is survived by her husband Bill Chaney of Kaufman, TX. Her sons Charles Smith of Mesquite, TX; Johnnie Smith of Mesquite, TX and Otis Smith of Cibolo, TX. Brother Joe Burns of Gun Barrel City, TX. Grandchildren Britney Smith of Kaufman, TX; Carter Grimes of Mesquite, TX; Allison Smith of Cibolo, TX; Payton Smith of Kaufman, TX and Otis Smith Jr. of Cibolo, TX and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home, located at 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159, on February 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same venue on February 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the committal service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, also at 1000 S Highway 175, Seagoville, TX 75159, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A celebration of life reception will be held at Crandall ISD Bus Barn, 400 W. Lewis St., Crandall, TX 75142, on February 28, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
