

Waymon Leon Locklear, 84, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017. He was born on April 15, 1933 to Johnie Dewey and Ola Raye (Gause) Locklear, Sr. in Dallas, TX. Waymon proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged from active duty March 1955. He continued serving in the Reserves and was honorably discharged in March 1961. He was an extremely hard worker and loved his job at Praxair where he was a service mechanic for 46 years. Waymon married the love of his life Ruby in 1953 and they enjoyed 61 beautiful years until her passing in 2014. He enjoyed woodworking and after his retirement, he and Ruby loved traveling, camping and working their property in Lively. Preceding him in death are his parents Johnie and Ola Locklear, Sr., his wife, Ruby Locklear; brothers Johnie Dewey Locklear, Jr., Jerry Wilburn and Terry Wayne Locklear. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Shirley Jo Peoples and husband Jim; son David Leon Locklear and wife Laura; grandchildren Jena Jolene Mullican and husband Scot; Stacie Lynn Garrett-Diaz and husband Bart; and Stephen Duane Locklear; great-grandchildren Hunter Alan Mullican, William Eugene Truman Garrett and Haley Lynn Madison Garrett; sister Jean Ann Weaver and husband, Ray; sisters-in-law Beverly Jean Locklear and Macel “Dink” Kelly and numerous other family loved ones and beloved friends. A visitation and reception will be held 12:00 – 2:00, on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, TX. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., followed by interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved Ruby in the Garden of Valley View.
