

Bernard Miller, Sr. was born in Horatio, South Carolina on April 6, 1927 to the late John and Earrian Miller and departed this life on December 29, 2011 at home with his wife and daughters at his side. Bernard attended High School in Horatio, South Carolina until he was old enough to join the Army.
At the beginning of his service in the Army, he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts, the Silver Star, and the Good Conduct Metal while wounded in the Korean War.
Bernard was a resident of Seaside, CA since 1952, where he was an active member in the community. He joined Friendship Baptist Church under the Leadership of Pastor C. Lewis McFadden where he served diligently. He was a member of VFW, Retired Men’s Social Club, American Legion, Pop Warner, American League of Progress, and the Bayside Community Mortuary.
Bernard married his Jr. High School Sweetheart Susie and celebrated 60 years of marriage on December 10, 2011. Through their union three children were born - Klonis, Bernard Jr., and Karen.
Bernard loved to smile, talk to all, play cards, enjoy a good barbeque, making his sipping cider, dressing in his Sunday Best, and had an enormous sweet tooth.
He is survived by his wife, Susie; two daughters, Klonis of Salinas CA and Karen (Jimmy) of San Jose CA; one son Bernard Miller Jr. of Los Banos, CA; two sisters Eula Mae Washington of Atlanta GA, and Mildred of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, & cousins.
