

Edward E. West, born January 25, 1927 in Elkhart, Texas to Edward E. West, II and Nellie West is survived by a sister Jessmae Taylor of Houston, TX a brother Boozier West of Kileen, TX and his wife of 61 years Yoko S. West. He served in the United States Military under the Army Branch for 22 years, as a Sargent First Class in combat in both World War II and the Korean War. He married his wife Yoko in Fukuoka, Japan in 1951, thereafter they had a son James E. West (deceased 1997) and a daughter Elaine West of Seaside, CA. He lived as a serviceman in Kentucky, Texas, New Jersey, Japan and Germany. In 1959 he settled with his family in Seaside, CA joining the Church of Christ, where he served as an active church member gaining the title of elder before his death. His proudest accomplishment in his life was being a christian, his relationship he shared with God and sharing his knowledge and faith of God to those around him. After retirement from military service, in Fort Ord, CA he went to work for the Nestle Foods Corporation for another 22 years until his second retirement with them in 1989. During his tenure with the Nestle Corporation, he bought his first farm in Castroville, CA in 1976 and re-developed his favorite pastime of being a cattleman and avid horseman. In addition to being a farmer, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Seaside branch, baseball coach, and active community member. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and being on his properties in Castroville and Salinas, CA. He leaves behind his wife Yoko, his daughter Elaine, three granddaughters Delvina Torres, Jaime West and Nellie West, a great-granddaughter Jasmine Fabregas, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who reside in Texas. Predeceased, his father, mother, two sisters, three brothers and one son.
