Albert G Hikida

Albert Genichi Hikida passed away at home on February 14, 2017 at the age of 93. Albert was born on March 7, 1923 in Seattle to Toyojiro and Fusa Hikida. He was the 9th of 10 children. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1942, and later attended Seattle University. During the war, Albert moved to Spokane with his family, and later joined the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the Army, Albert went to work at The Boeing Company where he worked for 41 years until he retired in 1989. Albert was a person who loved to work on and fix things, from household items to cars. He enjoyed going salmon fishing with his wife and son in Puget Sound, and taking annual trips for over twenty years to Sekiu to fish with family and friends. In retirement, Albert continued to enjoy local salmon fishing, and also enjoyed taking long road trips along the West Coast, and throughout Canada with friends and family. He was a very warm, kind, funny and friendly person, always striking up a conversation with anyone he came upon. He was a generous person, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Albert was also an avid reader, with too many favorite authors to cite. He was a wonderful Grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and especially enjoyed supporting them at all their sports activities. Albert will be greatly missed, but we are thankful for the many joyous and funny memories. Albert was preceded in death by all of his siblings, his first wife Chiyeko in 1955, and his wife Shizu in 2013. He is survived by his daughter Allicyn Tasaka (Gary) from Hawaii, son Martin (Lisa), grandchildren Brandon, Tyler, Ryan, sister-in-laws Mary Hikida from Seattle and Jane Hikida from Las Vegas, and many nephews and nieces.
