Angela Chiung-Hua Weng Chang passed away peacefully in the city of Seattle, Washington on Sunday, February 22, 2026. Her departure leaves a heartfelt absence in the lives of those who knew and loved her. Born in the town of Yensui, Taiwan, Angela spent her childhood surrounded by family. At the age of 23, she courageously immigrated to the United States to pursue her college education—an extraordinary act of independence and hope that would define the rest of her life.
Angela possessed a love of learning and a deeply adventurous spirit. Angela was a proud graduate of Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana, in Home Economics and Nutrition, and the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature. She believed deeply in the power of language to connect people, heal wounds, and expand worlds. Those who shared conversations with her often walked away comforted and inspired.
Beginning with her bold journey across the world as a young woman, she continued throughout her life to embrace new people, places, and experiences. Her curiosity about the world never faded. She especially delighted in traveling great distances to visit her children and grand-children living abroad, journeys that took her to far-off corners of the globe to Central America, the Caribbean, Ukraine, and southern Africa. These trips were not simply vacations but expressions of her boundless love, her courage, and her eagerness to understand the world her children inhabited.
Those who knew Angela will remember her as a style icon as well as a woman of grace and quiet strength. She carried herself with generosity and kindness, offering support through thoughtful actions, warm words, and a presence that brought comfort to any room she entered. Her laughter was gentle and her love steady and unwavering. She had a gift for making others feel welcomed, understood, and cared for—qualities that became the foundation of her relationships.
Angela was a devoted mother and grand-mother and raising her two sons and grand-children were the great joy of her life. She is survived by her beloved sons, Alfred and Daniel, daughter-in-law, Laura, and grandchildren, Alison, Cassidy, Nicholas, Sebastian, and Nathaniel who will carry forward her legacy of compassion, curiosity, and resilience. Through them, and through all those whose lives she touched, the spirit of who Angela Chang will endure.
As we honor Angela’s memory, we remember not only her accomplishments but also the everyday moments that defined her: meals lovingly shared, encouragement softly given, her quiet wisdom, and the adventures she embraced wholeheartedly. Her life reminds us that true legacy is built from love, kindness, and the courage to explore.
Angela will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
