Our sweet Anna reached 98 and lived her amazing life on her own terms. She remained in her home with a set of attentive and compassionate caregivers and still had her wonderful dry sense of humor until the days preceding her passing.
Anna was the middle child of three, sister to Harriet and Harry, who were born to a Danish immigrant Father and American born Danish Mother. Their strong ties to Europe led Anna to live most of her professional life in Germany as a Civilian with the United States Air Force. Whilst living abroad, Anna's travels took her to many fabulous locations with fun adventures. She was always up for something out of the ordinary and was a strong hiker and an avid skier, winning many racing competitions.
She was a long time, enthusiastic participant in Toastmasters International and gave a wonderful speech at her 90th birthday party.
Amongst her most admirable qualities was her charitable spirit. Every week she would volunteer at her beloved St. John United Lutheran Church in Seattle, making delicious soups for the food insecure in the community. Anna was always donating to worthy causes and helping family, neighbors and friends when times were tough for them or she felt they needed a little helping hand. She created a Foundation to benefit BIPOC and other marginalized communities. Anna's mindfulness of others never failed, she was genuinely interested in hearing your story and was always fully enveloped in two way conversations until her last days.
She faced her medical issues head on and again, on her terms. We are saddened, but happy to know that she has found peace.
Friends and family of Anna have lost a true friend. Her gracious spirit lives on.
