Art passed away quietly on October 26, 2011 at Highline Hospital in Burien; with his family and friends at his side.
He is preceeded in death by his parents Yoshisuke and Sasaye Watanabe, and brother Tai Watanabe.
After suffering a massive stroke during a routine heart bypass surgery .Art was bedridden after complications during surgery. In and out of various hospitals and nursing homes he was able to tough it out for 5 1/2 yrs.
Prior to retiring Art was Finance Manager for Doug's Lynnwood Mazda from1975- 2001
Art is survived by his brother Kazuo (Mary) Watanabe, sisters Elizabeth Tatsuko Okada, June Ishikawa, many nephews and nieces and his Dearest friend Pat Wakazuru; who was at his side during his long battle.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple, 1427 Main St. Seattle,WA on Friday Nov 04, 2011 at 7:00pm
Remembrances can be made to the Seattle Betsuin Temple or the Nisei Vets
