Bev was born in Hamilton, MT, in 1928, the first of George and Bertha Unrue's three children. The family soon moved to Seattle, where Bev was a self-professed "tomboy," running to and from Green Lake Elementary School and protecting her two younger brothers from neighborhood bullies. Bev loved music and played violin for the area's youth symphony. She graduated from Roosevelt High School and attended the UW.
Bev soon married and had twin boys, of whom she was very proud. She became a single working mother when her boys were young, yet she was always on the sidelines for soccer and football games and at school events. She always provided for her family, often working two jobs to put her boys through school. Later, Bev loved playing with her grandchildren. Her energy, stories, games and funny songs never ceased to keep the kids entertained.
Bev spent the last 30 years working at the UW as a Purchasing Agent. She loved her job and her coworkers. Bev was always quick with a smile and a laugh, the first to pitch in and the last to leave. She never retired, and was working still until a heart attack took her from us.
Beverly is survived by her two sons, Jim and Dan; her daughters-in-law, Julie and Lisa; her grandchildren, Andrew, Jack, Hannah, Mary, and Katie; and her two step-sons, Peter and Steven Richards, and their families. Mom, we miss you dearly and will never forget your love and support.
