

Carley Marie Ryckman, age 86, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2013 after a long fight with dementia. She was born in Onalaska, Washington on December 25, 1926 to Pearl and August Anvik into a large, happy family, attended junior college in Centralia, Washington, to major in nursing, and then moved to Seattle with her husband where she resided for the majority of her life. She is survived by Walter, her husband of 66 years, sister Carole Sherwood of Centralia; three children – Dennis (wife Nancy) of Seattle, Dean (wife Carol) of Auburn, and Dawn of Federal Way; and four grandsons – Chris Norberg (wife Elaine) of Bainbridge Island, Scott Ryckman (wife Andrea) of Ferndale, Chris Ryckman (wife Jennifer) of Renton, and Jame Ryckman of Federal Way. Also three great grandsons – Zach Norberg, Kaleb Ryckman and Aiden Ryckman as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, camping, salmon fishing, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, knitting and spending time with her family. Her husband’s job opportunities allowed her to travel and reside in numerous cities and towns across the U.S. where she made many long distance friends. She loved entertaining and was known for her extravagant buffet style meals and desserts.
She was a caregiver to all her entire life – whether it was fixing a meal, giving advice, or helping a stranger, Carley was always there with her inexhaustible energy, kindness, generosity, enthusiasm and compassion.
Carley, thank you for being you; for giving us hope everlasting and teaching us all your important life lessons. We love you and will miss you forever. Rest peacefully.
