
Chai Ho Liu of Seattle, Washington passed away April 7th 2005 at the age of 62. Born in Guangzhou, China, he was the son of Lek Ndng and Ching Lan. Chai lived in Seattle over the past 30 years. He arrived in the US in December of 1968. The ?Master Chef? lived in Portland for a few years until he relocated to Seattle in 1971.
Cooking was his life and hobby. Shared by many families and friends. There was not a wok or pan that he didn?t like. He owned a few restaurants in the International District area Chinatown until his retirement in 1995. Wherever he traveled there had to be good Chinese restaurant or a Chinatown nearby.
To him there was no other sport than soccer and horse racing. One of his fondest days was back in the summer of 2003. He watched Manchester United play at Seahawks Stadium with his two sons David 32 and Jimmy 27. He won many bets during his last visit to Emerald Downs. Out of his family he was the only one that came out ahead.
Not only was he a great husband and father, he was a cool brother, uncle and friend. Throughout his life, Chai taught people many things such as cooking, figure out what is in each dim sum dish, to kids ride a bike but most importantly to live life and have fun.
Chai is also survived by his wife Mei Lan, sister Pui Kam and husband, brother Chai Min and wife, Chai Bong and Chai Sui and wife and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Harborview Medical Center for providing excellent care for Chai.
Funeral services will be held at the Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home on Tuesday April 12th 2005 at 2 p.m.
