
Charles G. Atterberry, Sr. was born to the union of Charlie Lewis and Elsie Jean Atterberry in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His parents, two siblings Cleveland, Willie Claude Atterberry and daughter, Alberta Stringer Carter preceded him in death.
During his formative years in Hattiesburg, he attended Eureka High School and the Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Charles moved to Seattle in 1962 and was employed by the Boeing Company where he retired after 35 years of service. He was married to Grace Hicks Atterberry and a son, Charles G. Atterberry, Jr. was born to this union.
Charles departed this life on Sunday May 6, 2007 after a period of illness. He leaves to cherish in memory, his son Charles G. Atterberry, Jr. Felicia, seven grandchildren; Willie, James, Christopher, Robert and Alkeisha Stringer, Aleisha Carter of Columbus, Ohio and Malik Atterberry of Seattle. Two brothers; Joe Phillip Atterberry, Sr. Josephineof Seattle and Lewis Edward Atterberry of Asbury Park, New Jersey, and donald Ray Smith US Army presently serving his country in Iraq. Three Sisters; Mary Ann Thompson of Neptune, New Jersey, Valarie Louise Harvey of Shreveport, Louisiana and Vivian Sternes of Waco, Texas; A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
"A precious one from us has gone, a voice we loved is stilled, A place is vacant in our hearts which never can be filled. We shall all miss him but his caring heart and sharing spirit will remain with us and a beautiful memory of one we loved so dear."
