Charles was a great man and friend and he will be missed for his smile and positive attitude.

Charles was one of first people I got to know as a True Gentleman with a heart as big as all out doors. It seems that he was every where doing things for people and you always felt special when you were with him.
I just recently read about his Airborne Outfit in a book and how it was formed, in the days we all would like to forget, when men of color were treated badly even when they were serving the same country and fighting the the same fight.
I realized when I read it and rememberd seeing a picture of the tall and strong young man outfitted for a Jump that he had to have been part of that Unit and now I know he was. 
We are all better for having known him and I"m sorry I didn't hear about his passing before now. I wouldn't have missed his send off for anything. 
We'll miss you Charles, you were an original one of a kind guy and a friend to everyone.

Charles Craft was the first person I meet through  Wihski Ski Club. I went to a meeting and he was very friendly, with an easy laugh. I will miss playing golf with him.  It was nice to ride in his cart around the 16th hole.

I knew Charles through the Wihski ski club for many years and enjoyed many activities with him. He was a great fun guy always with a big smile for everyone. And grew the most beautiful roses. He will be very much missed. Good Bye, my friend and Rest In Peace, Judi Brooks.

Charles both had a smile and brought a smile.  I can't think of very many people who appeared to enjoy greeting others as much as Charles did.  Even my last visit with Charles in January at Park Ridge, he spent all the time I was there sitting outside his room greeting everyone who came by with a smile.  If he had been able to stand comfortably, he would probably have offered hugs as well.  He liked people, but he loved the ladies!  Thanks to Paul Ross who keep tabs on Charles and passed along the word when he moved from one facility to another over the recent months.

Big smiles, hearty laughs, rose bouquets, and hello hugs -- that was Charles.  I imagine by now a lot of angels have received Charles Craft bear hugs.

Thank you Charles for a good time with you and our Whiski skiclub friends golfing, skiing, dancing, biking, hiking - you very graciously helped me across the long suspension bridge on one of our hikes. You were a great Whiski skiclub "Santa" - I have a picture of me on your lap! I will miss you a lot.  Vila i Frid - Swedish for Rest in Peace.

I knew Charles through WIHSKI. We bike, played cards together. He gave great big bear hugs, brought roses and chocolates. He loved to dance and dance and dance. I have many memories of Charles which I will cherish. His big grin and his love of life.


I met Charles at the WHISKI Club and have known him for over 20 years.  I will remember Charles when I look at roses and his bear hugs.  I enjoyed talking with Charles.  He always had a good sense of humor and was a relentless poker player as well as a good dancer and bicyclist.  I went on several ski trips and Charles was always the gentleman.  RIP.  I will miss you.

Charles was one of the first people I met when I joined the Wihski Ski Club. He was outgoing, and always had a laugh, and smile for you. Enjoyed bicycling, golfing, and playing cards with him.
So sad he passed, and nobody in the club knew about it. RIP my friend.

Steve met Charles long before I did on a singles club train ride to go skiing.  We could always count on Charles for a huge hug and a laugh!  I will miss him terribly.

I met Charles at the Whiski club many years ago. I loved Charles, he was a humble guy, always upbeat, positive and grew the most beautiful roses, all colors and he would bring them to every monthly meeting and pick out a special person to receive them.  He was funny.  I had a big heart for him and sad as his family lost contact with him and he was all alone and fighting the VA for his rightful benefits.  He was a man with dignity and always would help anyone.  I am feeling very sad as I have not gone to visit him where he had been living.  Forgive me Charles.  I love you and hope you will feel all the love you deserve.  Such a good dancer, dresser, Luv Sheila Dwyer. Thank you for the members that went to visit Charles during these last months.  I never knew what happened to Charles, sickness, We need to celebrate Charles, our friend.

I knew Charles through the Wiskey Ski club. I travelled with him and roomed with him several times. I always enjoyed being around him because of his ready smile and laugh. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of knowing Charles though our WIHSKI ski club.  We'll all miss him and his sunny smile.

Charles was a special friend - we spent many days on bike tours and ski trips and at other ski club events. While I am sad at his passing, I am glad he is at peace now.
