
Charlotte Elizabeth Bryant, 61, passed away August 24th at The Terraces at Skyline Assisted nursing facility. William Bryant, her husband of 25 years, was at her side as he had been daily through her final illness with cancer.
In spite of multiple health problems, including multiple sclerosis, which limited her mobility and energy for much of the past decade, "Char," as she was known to her many friends and co-workers, continued to work - and play - without complaint. Sassy, funny and smart, Charlotte was an enthusiastic and talented "crafter" and a skilled, adventurous cook, who liked to share her culinary creations with family and at office gatherings. She was known as "Momma Char" to her co-workers who respected her for her honest and giving personality.
Born Charlotte Elizabeth Ketchum on September 21, 1949, in Burns, Oregon, she moved with her family as a young child to Ellensburg, Washington, where she grew up, attended schools, married and started her own family. As a single mom with three young children, she went to Wenatchee Valley Community College for studies that eventually led to her employment by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. She worked in Seattle at the Rainier Office of DSHS for 30 years, most recently as a Work First Program specialist.
Charlotte and William Bryant married November 26th 1986 and made their home in Seattle.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter Leigh Ann Conklin and son Brian Mackner, both of Kennewick; her son Ed Mackner of Ellensburg; three step daughters; Charell, Felicia and Vanessa Bryant. Four sisters, Carla Ketchum of Ellensburg, Peggy Ketchum of Kennewick, Julie Alverson of Yakima and Judy Broom of Seattle. There are 4 grandchildren Jacy-Leigh and Jake Conklin of Kennewick, Jasmine McCarter of Pasco and Justice Mackner of Richland.
Charlotte had 2 lifelong friends Ardith Allen and Deborah Gross whom were like sisters to her they were a very important part of her life.
