Christopher James Luu

Our beloved Christopher James Luu, dear son, grandson, nephew, grandnephew, cousin, and friend, passed away at 35 years old on January 25, 2022. He was born on January 14, 1987, in Seattle, Washington, and had been a resident of this area for his whole life.

Christopher attended St. Catherine’s School and Shorewood High School. He loved to play basketball, practice karate, and was on the swim team at Madison pool during his middle school years. He also served as a volunteer for three years in the YES Program for the city of Seattle during the summer, where he enjoyed his responsibilities of supervising younger children at the children’s pool next to the Bitterlake Community Center. After high school, he received his Associate of Arts degree from North Seattle College. Christopher worked in health care for most of his career, and spent many years at Swedish Hospital and the University of Washington. He loved his jobs and helping others so much. He was a kind, thoughtful, generous, passionate, and tremendously funny soul. He loved playing good-natured jokes and started doing so at about two years of age! Christopher worked hard and loved profoundly. Family was immensely important to him. He will be so deeply missed.

He is survived by his mother, Katherine Luu, aunts and uncles, James R. Helling (Judy Schaub), Barbara Hutchings (Larry), Theresa Martel (Kevin), great-aunt Jeanne Kennedy, great-uncle Michael Hermann (Linda), great-uncle Bill Helling, and first cousins, Jennifer Danhauser, Stephen Helling, and Christopher Butch Helling, and many more cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents James M. and Mary A. Helling, uncles Peter Hermann, Philip Hermann, Robert Kennedy, Dick Hermann, and first cousins, Michael Helling and Danny Stroebel, and many others of his extended family.

The memorial service for Christopher will be held at Evergreen Washelli, 11111 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, Washington, on February 25, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception celebrating his life to follow.
